Mr. Owino will now head back to the police service and leave Mr. Gumbo without a running mate.

Early in the year, Mr. Owino quit the police service and joined the Siaya gubernatorial race.

“To have taken the risk to become a policeman was a real risk, I’ve done a riskier job, a job where you leave your house not knowing if you will come back alive. and I am prepared to put my head on the rail,” Mr. Owino said as he joined politics.

Mr. Owino joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) part before he bolted out when they handed a direct ticket to Senator James Orengo who is eyeing the Siaya Governor seat.

Mr. Owino joined hands with Mr. Gumbo and headed to the United Democratic Movement (UDM) by Governor Ali Roba.

“Let it be known that Gumbo and Owino have partnered as candidates and running mate.

"Both had very serious stakes and were front runners in Siaya. When they join hands you can just imagine the outcome,” Mr Roba said as he welcomed the two.
