Kuria had said that the Kenyan shilling would soon strengthen against the dollar to exchange at Sh 85.

Kenyans are unconvinced by Moses Kuria's assurance that the Kenyan currency will soon gain strength against the dollar.

The Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary in said in Saturday that the forex will lower to favourable rates soon.

This, he said, would be made possible by the reforms undertaken by the Energy docket.

According to him, the rate would lower to Sh 85 against the US dollar.

Trade and Industry CS Moses Kuria.

"My distinguished colleague Davies Chirchir is working hard to restructure the fuel supply chain in order to ease the pressure on the Shilling. He is imminently succeeding after which I see an exchange rate of Ksh 85 to the dollar," he said.

However, Kenyans poked holes in Kuria's assertion, arguing that it is a hyperbole to believe the shilling would strengthen itself against the dollar in near future.

Currently, the dollar exchanges at upward of KSh 120 against the US dollar.
