Former Kenya 7s rugby player Alex Olaba is facing cancellation of his bail terms over allegations of interfering with a key witness in a gang rape case against him and his former teammate Frank Wanyama.

This is after the prosecution filed for cancellation of Olaba’s bail on allegation of threatening a key witness in rape case.

Olaba was arrested one week ago with police alleging that he was planning to murder a key witness in the case.

Detectives reportedly went undercover and approached Olaba after receiving information that he was plotting to murder a key witness.

An undercover detective reportedly met Olaba and deliberated on the plans before he was arrested.

Following the arrest, police managed to recover two mobile phones from the accused which are currently undergoing investigations.

Speaking after the arrest, Olaba reportedly told the police that he had been possessed by satanic spirits.

Olaba and Wanyama were arrested in 2018 over claims of gang rape.

They were presented to court and released on a Sh300,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty.

While being released on bail, Milimani Law Court magistrate Zainab Abdul Olaba nad his co-accused not to interfere with witnesses in the case, failure to which their bail would be cancelled.
