"I can't and will not apologise to them," Mike Sonko said.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko now claims that his Facebook Page has been disabled.

Sonko in a tweet on Tuesday claimed that the Facebook Page was disabled over his comments about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer/questioning and asexual  (LGBTQA) members.

Sonko said Facebook now wants him to apologise to the LGBTQA members if he wants his Facebook page back.

The former Governor has however said he won't apologise for his remarks urging his supporters to join him on Twitter for continuous interaction.

"Hawa mashoga wa LGBTQ wako na nguvu. Wamecomplain to FB mpaka my page of 2,500,000 followers ikakuwa disabled till I apologise to them then appeal to FB. I can't and will not apologise to them. Hapa tweeter muko 2,300,000 followers and still growing like Bush fire," he said.

The revelations come at a time when the country has been facing a heated debate on the position of LGBTQA members in society.

This comes after the Supreme Court ruling allowed LGBTQA members to form associations, a decision that sparked uproar among Kenyans.

Both religious and political leaders joined hands in opposing the Supreme Court decision.

President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua also spoke out boldly on the matter saying Kenya will not be a country that advocates for LGBTQA.
