  • According to Havi, his decision to join politics was influenced by consistent complaints from Kenyans seeking better leadership and representation.

Renowned Kenyan lawyer Nelson Havi who also doubles up as Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President has officially joined politics.

Speaking on Monday, Havi noted that he’s heard the plea of Kenyans and is ready to serve them in Parliament come 2022, or if the National Assembly is dissolved earlier than that.

On the seat he’ll go for, Havi said he is keen on replacing Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi who is reportedly eyeing Nairobi governorship in the next general election.

Havi noted that he is a leader filled with integrity, adding that if elected Westlands MP in 2022, he’ll serve all his constituents faithfully and diligently.

“The Constitution enumerates functions and duties of a Member of National Assembly thus: making laws and protecting the Constitution; determining allocation of national revenue and oversight of its expenditure; reviewing conduct of State officers and oversight of State organs; and infrastructural development, wealth creation and poverty alleviation at the constituency level.

“I have accepted the request of the People of Westlands Constituency to serve them and the Nation in that capacity effective August, 2022 or earlier if Parliament is dissolved,” he tweeted.

Havi has been at the forefront criticizing the current regime over the rising public debt, disobedience of court orders, and its frosty relationship with the Judiciary.

If elected, this will be a major milestone for Havi as he’ll have an opportunity to bring to Bills and push for the enactment of laws that empower and improve the living standards of the local mwananchi.
