A section on residents in Kibera and Mathare areas are already warming up for Azimio’s phase two of anti-government protests even as the government has stated that they are illegal.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has refuted claims that Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has called off the anti-government protests.

In an update via Twitter on Monday, March 27, the opposition party flagged a circulating press statement as fake.

The fake statement claimed that Raila was forced to call off the protests after the government withdrew his security detail.

“Following the withdrawal of security of our party leader Rt Hon.Raila Amollo Odinga we, the leadership of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party hereby confirm to the general public that Monday Demonstrations have been called off considering the events last week where Baba's vehicle was heavily damaged.

"That has forced us to schedule our peaceful demonstrations on a later date,” the fake statement read in part.
