The Kenya Railways has suspended commuter train services in Nairobi. 

In a public notice, Kenya Railways cited "unavoidable" circumstances for the suspension of the services.

The suspension only affected Monday specifically.

"We wish to inform our customers that due to unavoidable circumstances, commuter train services scheduled for tomorrow, Monday the 27th of March, have been suspended,"  the Kenya Railways said in the statement.

The Kenya Railways, however, said  All Madaraka Express link trains between the Nairobi Central Station and the Nairobi Terminus will run as scheduled.

The cancellation of services came on the very day the Azimio La Umoja coalition called for countrywide protests.

Raila said the protests will be held on Mondays and Thursdays to show disapproval of the current regime.

The ODM leader has demanded the opening of the IEBC servers, lowering the cost of living, and reversal of the process of recruiting the IEBC commissioners. 

The train services are used by many Kenyans who seek to access the city to head to their various places of work.
