Omondi has had run-ins with the law in recent days with this being the second time this month and the third time this year he is being arrested by police officers.

Comedian Eric Omondi was on Tuesday, March 28 arrested along the Uhuru highway in Nairobi.

The renowned comedian turned activist was pulling a handcart full of boxes with CVs headed to State House before the police arrested him.

Omondi has had run-ins with the law in recent days with this being the second time this month and the third time this year he is being arrested by police officers.

He was arrested on March 1 at City Stadium in Nairobi while distributing maize flour to his supporters. During the arrested Omondi defended himself, arguing that most Kenyans are facing economic hardships.

“Wakenya wenzetu hawana unga. Ni unga tu nilikuwa napeana,” Omondi said then.

He was again arrested on February 21 after blocking Parliament Road with a group of shirtless muscular men donning black shorts demanding an audience with Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

He was later released on a Ksh 10,000 cash bail after he pleaded not guilty to taking part in an unlawful assembly.

Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga also defended Omondi stating that Kenyans have a right to protest and should be protected by the police while in demonstrations.
