Jubilee party secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni has issued a statement after a meeting organized by Jubilee party members was disrupted.

Jubilee party secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni on Wednesday, March 29 issued a statement after a meeting organized by Jubilee party members was disrupted in Nyeri County. 

In the statement, Kioni stated that the party members were meeting at a hotel in Nyeri Town to discuss the recent attacks on property belonging to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio leader Raila Odinga before giving a presser.

Kioni claimed that a senior government official sent goons to disrupt the meeting and even threatened to beat up the members.

“Goons led by one Kariithi, a nominated Member of the Nyeri County Assembly scuttled the planned press conference. The goons disrupted the meeting and then went ahead and threatened to beat up members of the press present,” the statement read in part.

The former Ndaragwa MP condemned the incident noting that such an act fundamental rights and freedom as enshrined by the constitution. 

“I wish to condemn this acts of cowardice and categorically tell this regime that we do not intend to sit pretty as they take for granted fundamental rights and freedoms guaranteed by our constitution,” Kioni added.
