The Nairobi senator has claimed that he will be on the ballot in the August 9 polls.

Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja has claimed that he will be on the ballot in the August polls even after the recognition of his Ugandan degree was revoked on Wednesday.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 15, the lawmaker stated that he could not be intimidated by threats that he claimed to have emanated from the State.

“I will be on the Ballot on 9th Aug 2022. We will not be cowed by the threats, coercion and intimidation by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the State,” Sakaja tweeted.

According to the senator, the revocation of the recognition of the degree by the Commission for University Education (CUE) was null and void.

Sakaja claimed that the commission’s chairman Prof. Chacha Nyaigotti Chacha had allegedly been intimidated by President Kenyatta to revoke the recognition of his degree from Team University.

He said that he had presented his academic qualifications to CUE on June 6 and the commission confirmed the authenticity of the qualification.

“On June 6, I presented my qualifications to the CUE for recognition. The commission conducted due diligence by first writing to their counterpart in Uganda, National Council for Higher Education, which in turn wrote to the university.

“The commission confirmed the authenticity of the qualification from Team University through the National Council for Higher Education and thus recognised my qualifications,” Sakaja stated.

The lawmaker shared copies of the documents which the Nairobi County Returning Officer had used to clear him to run for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

“The desperate attempts by President Kenyatta and the so-called Deep State will fall on the sword of justice. I have the requisite qualifications to vie for the position of Governor of Nairobi and will be on the ballot,” Sakaja stated.
