Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has sent a warning to governors who supported the BBI bill.

Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has sounded a message of caution to governors who were in support of the Constitution Amendment Bill 2020 otherwise known as the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Taking to social media on May 18, 2020, the Deputy President William Ruto confidant referred to the impeachment of Wajir Governor  Mohammed Abdi on May 17, as a warning shot to pro-BBI governors.

"The fall of Gov Mohammed Abdi of Wajir should serve as a warning shot to the governors who bought shares in the BBI ponzi scheme.

"He was an ardent BBI supporter but now that the matter is beyond him, he has been quickly let off. Many more will fall," Cheruiyot stated.

Following the High Court ruling that declared the BBI unconstitutional, allies of the DP and other anti-BBI leaders have taken jabs at the BBI camp.

Abdi was impeached after a Special Senate Committee had recommended his removal.

The 11- member panel found him guilty of grossly violating the Constitution, County Government, Public Procurement and Asset Disposal and Public Finance Management acts.

25 Senators voted in favour of the impeachment motion, 2 voted against and 4 abstained.
