Prof Lukoye Atwoli, son of COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, has been appointed to the leadership of Mathari Teaching and Referral Hospital.

President Uhuru Kenyatta picked Prof Lukoye Atwoli to be chairman of the Mathari Teaching and Referral Hospital for a period of 3 years.

In a gazette notice dated October 16, Prof Atwoli will be a board member without responsibilities for daily management or operations of the company or organisation.

This comes barely 5 months after he was appointed the Dean of Aga Khan University’s Medical College (EA).


Other accomplishments

Prof Atwoli is an expert in psychiatry with extensive leadership, teaching and academic research experience.

He leads and participates in mental health research locally and globally and is a member of the WHO World Mental Health Surveys Consortium, which is the leading collaborative project in psychiatric epidemiology globally.

Meanwhile, ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru named Lawyer William Otieno Oketch to be the Chairperson of the Media Complaints Commission.
The board members will include Henry Omusundi Maina, Nancy Achieng Booker, Dermus Kipkong Kiprono, Esther Jowi Anyango Aduma, Lempaa Suyianka and Polly Gathoni.
