Deputy President William Ruto now says he stood with President Uhuru Kenyatta when he needed him the most. 

Speaking on Saturday, July 2 in Tharaka Nithi County, Ruto reminded the Head of State that Martha Karua and Raila Odinga never stood with him in the previous elections.

"I want to tell President Uhuru Kenyatta, when you needed a friend to stand with you my friend, I stood with you, Raila Odinga and Martha Karua never stood with you, all I am asking is to give me space I deal with the former prime minister," Ruto stated.

Ruto mentioned that he did not have a problem with the Head of State since he was going into retirement. 

According to the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, Ruto had hinted taht he would go after Presidnet Kenyatta if they win the August polls.

Kenya Kwanza vowed to form a judicial team to investigate the actions and policies of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The manifesto also indicated that Kenya Kwanza would form an inquiry into state capture and a tribunal on enforced disappearances and violations of human rights. 

At the same time, the President took a swipe at Ruto on Saturday while speaking at the National Council for Ushirika Day at KICC. 

The Head of State said that his deputy had abandoned his duties and was just making empty promises. He questioned why hadn't he executed them yet he is in government. 

"Mimi nasikitika nikiona wengine ng'we ng'we, mtu amekuwa huku amepewa kazi badala ya kazi ni mdomo, alafu sasa tutafanya, na tutafanya…kwa nini hukufanya wakati ulikuwa huko?” Kenyatta posed.
