Former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo's convoy was on Saturday, July 2 pelted with stones by a section of youth in Siaya County. 

Gumbo was heading for an Azimio rally in Siaya County led by Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga. 

Images seen by Nairobileo.co.ke and shared by Gumbo on his Facebook page, show a damaged windscreen. 

Gumbo, who is vying for the Siaya Gubernatorial seat, condemned the incident via his Facebook page. 

"After we unearthed their scheme to cause chaos at the rallies today, they resorted to violence while blocking me and other Azimio one Kenya Coalition Party candidates from accessing the events. The matter has been forwarded to the police for the goons responsible to be held accountable. I, therefore, urge my supporters to remain calm. Our journey is still on course," he stated. 


Gumbo is vying on a United Democratic Movement (UDM), an affiliate party of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party. 

He will be facing ODM's James Orengo in the gubernatorial race. 

The Azimio brigade led by Odinga has pitched camp in the Nyanza region campaigning ahead of the August polls.

Leaders led by Governor Hassan Joho has been urging the electorate to electorate ODM candidates on grounds that it's Odinga's backyard.
