"It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bashir Mohamed Mohamud informs you that the body of Bashir was found earlier today at Kerugoya Level 5 Hospital.

"As the family processes this tragic news and plan for his burial, they request that they be accorded privacy,” a statement from the family lawyer Charles Madowo read in part.

Police explained why it took time to identify the body stating that his face was disfigured. They took fingerprint for identification and that is when it was ascertained that the victim was Bashir.

“We were informed that there was a body at River Nyamindi’s bed, that is Sunday last week (16/05/2021), we visited the scene where we collected the body and booked it at the Kerugoya morgue," Kirinyaga county criminal investigating officer (CCIO) Kiplagat Korir told KTN.

"Since it was naked and did not have any documents for identification, we took the fingerprints for identification. The details came late last night (Saturday 22/05/2021), showing that it was Bashir’s,” he added.
