The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is following up on the case of the Embakasi East Constituency Returning Officer who was found dead.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ODPP stated that it was following on the case as investigations by the police continued.

Musyoka’s body was discovered at a thicket near the Kenya-Tanzania border on Monday and according to the police, he seemed to have been tortured to death.


“ODPP is following up the case of missing & subsequent death of Daniel Mbolu Musyoka, an IEBC Returning Officer for Embakasi East Constituency, whose body was found today in Loitoktok Kajiado County.

“According to police, Musyoka's body was found in a thicket near the Kenya-Tanzania border in Loitoktok Sub-County. Musyoka went missing on 11th Aug. 2022. Investigations are ongoing,” the ODPP said on Tuesday, August 16.

Announcing his disappearance earlier, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said that the electoral commission and Musyoka’s family had tried to reach the now deceased with no avail.

"Musyokas family and the Commission have been trying to reach him without success. A report of a missing person has been made at Embakasi police station," Chebukati stated.

Musyoka was at the East African School of Aviation tallying center at the time of his disappearance.
