  • Those affected by the test run should be prepared to walk and encounter traffic  snarl-ups.

The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has announced that it will be conducting another test run at the new Green Park bus terminus on Friday, May 28.

Unlike the previous test run conducted a few weeks ago, NMS Director General Major General Mohammed Badi said the upcoming test run will focus on the evening rush hour.

According to Badi, the test run will commence at 4 pm and end at 8 pm. During this period, matatus plying the Ngong, Kibera, Dagoretti, and Rongai among other routes will drop and pick passengers at the Green Park terminus.

Badi further noted that usual operations will resume after 8 PM when the test run elapses.

Those using matatus from the Railway bus terminus need to take note that on Friday between 4 to 8 pm they’ll be no matatus at their usual spot. This means the affected persons will have to move to Green Park to catch their ride.

Moving across town on a motorbike or a taxi is quite expensive and may not be affordable for many, therefore, be prepared to walk in case you can’t manage to get a bike or a taxi to move you to the new terminus.

To avoid inconveniences like those experienced during the first test run, it is important to plan early. On that day, you can leave the office earlier to ensure you don’t get stranded trying to catch a ride at the new terminus.

Also, there may be traffic since it is highly likely that a large number of vehicles will access the terminus at the same time. Therefore, if you can, you may want to explore other avenues you can use to get home.

The Green Park terminus is part of NMS’ plan to decongest and reduce traffic snarl-ups in the city centre. The agency is expected to come up with other such projects in different parts of the city.
