Four suspected 'Confirm' gang members have been shot dead by the police.

Police in Nakuru County have killed four suspected gang members who are linked to the dreaded Nakuru gang, ‘Confirm’.

Confirming the Thursday night incident, Nakuru Police Commander Peter Mwanzo said that the four were killed by police who were on patrol.

Mwanzo said that the suspected gang members had been terrorizing the area residents in the past days before they were shot dead by police.

"There are four suspects who were killed last night from a notorious gang group known as 'Confirm' and have been taking advantage of the residents of this area," the police commander stated.

The shooting comes even as Mwanzo was appointed the new Nakuru police commander by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.

According to Matiang’i, Mwanzo’s appointment was made to improve security in the region following cases of insecurity in the region.

The CS further said that police patrols had been implemented in the region to beef up security and it was from these patrols that the four were killed on Thursday night.

“We have made changes in the security management of this city and from today, we will have police patrols in this region,” Matiang’i said on June 29.

The police previously launched a crackdown on members of the dreaded ‘Confirm' gang, with hundreds of suspects linked to the criminal gang arrested already and a number of crude weapons seized.
