On Sunday, Deputy President William Ruto met with a number of artists at his Hustlers Mansion in Karen Nairobi.

Among those who visited the DP are Jeshi Jinga (Shembeteng), Kartelo, Modesto, Iano Ranking, and Legends Music group. It was, however, his interaction with the recent tongue-twisting variant of the sheng 'Shembeteng' group that got the attention of Kenya.

While declaring their support for Ruto's bid, Jeshi Jinga commonly known as Shembeteng took the DP through a number of their jargons, leaving the DP in stitches.

On his part, the DP promised the team that his Kenya Kwanza team has a comprehensive plan to transform the creative industry in the country as one way of creating employment opportunities for the Kenyan youth. He urged them to remain steadfast in their support for his presidential bid

"Consulted with artists; Jeshi Jinga (Shembeteng), Kartelo, Modesto, Iano Ranking and Tana Legends Music Group, Karen, Nairobi. We have a comprehensive plan to transform the creative industry to create jobs and opportunities for our talented youth. We urge the youth to support that plan by voting for Kenya Kwanza," stated Ruto.

Jeshi Jinga recently left a mark in the country's jargon evolvement after emerging with a new slang known as Shembeteng. Shembeteng is Kenya’s new urban slang that predominantly mixes English, Kiswahili and local languages.

The new sheng variant is being relentlessly pushed by a group of friends from Nairobi’s Kayole estate, who call themselves Jembeteshi Jimbitinga or Jeshi Jinga.

Among the recently transformed words into shembeteng is “I love you”, mouthed as “nakulombotove”, Others are, “nakuhambatate” for “I hate you” or “divombotorce” for “divorce”
