Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has conceded Jubilee has lost massive support and needs to restrategise.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has conceded that the ruling Jubilee Party is nolonher the same outfit that won the 2017 general elections.

Taking to her social media handles on June 7, 2021, the Jubilee governor called for theĀ  "reenergizing" of the party.

She alleged that Jubilee Party carries the dreams and aspirations of many Kenyans, and built by the collective strengths of many.

Waiguru noted that the party elevated to the top because it enjoyed a diverse and broad support base.

"The rains have beaten us. Our fortunes are dwindling. Intense introspection is demanded," Waiguru stated.

"As we head to 2022 we must recognize that the Party is now operating in a new context far different from 10 years ago. We have a much younger generation dominating the electorate.

"Our outlook and strategies must suit the times and so we must be willing to step off our comfort zones and embrace new ways of thinking and doing. We need a reenergized Jubilee that projects the face of Kenya in all its diversities," she noted.

She urged the party leadership to be pragmatic and work on the recruitment of new members and allow for the return of departed members.

"A lot of futures are tied to the fate of the Party and we must restore its vision, glory and stature or contend with predictable consequences," Waiguru noted.

The governor sentiments follow a series of events that have since wounded the ruling party, from a section of leaders defecting to support other parties to the recent by-election loses in areas that they enjoyed massive votes in 2017.

For instance, the Mount Kenya region, a once Jubilee stronghold has had 6 by-elections, out of which the party has won one.
