The announcement on recovery of the guns and ammunition comes at a time when cases of crime have been on the rise across the country, where victims have either been strangled or shot dead.

A few weeks ago, Citizen TV published an exposé detailing how criminals allegedly get guns from law enforcement officers and use them for illegal purposes.

In the expose, it was revealed that one can acquire a gun with as low as Sh 5,000. However, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti dismissed the findings from expose noting that the guns did not belong to the police service.
