The Senate Health Committee was forced to cut short a meeting with Nairobi Health CEC Hitan Majevdia after he appeared in a zoom meeting donning a bathrobe.

The Senate Health Committee's date with Nairobi City County Executive Committee member for Health Hitan Majevdia was cut short after he appeared in the Zoom meeting wearing a bathrobe.

The CEC appeared with his mouth full, indicating he might have been enjoying his breakfast.

Majevdia was set to appear before the committee alongside the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) to answer for alleged misappropriation of Covid-19 funds by county governments as revealed by the Auditor General.

Wajir Senator Abdullahi Ali called out the Health Minister for dressing inappropriately for such an occasion.

“It is very disrespectful for a whole County official to appear before senate committee not properly dressed and yet he has no responses for us,” he said.

While responding to the questions posed by the committee, Majevdia, delegated the responses to acting Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu, alleging she had the answers.

“I don’t have the responses with me as the County Secretary and the Deputy Governor have them,” Majevdia stated.

Trans Nzoia Senator Michael Mbito, in disappointment, directed the CEC to exit the meeting.

“The CEC appears drunk, he is in a bathrobe and is not properly dressed. The Covid-19 funds is not a joke and he should take this matter seriously,”  he said.
