The Ministry of Health has announced that 195 people have tested positive for corona virus in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health has announced that 195 people have tested positive for corona virus in the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the 195 were from a sample of 1,852 tests conducted between Sunday and Monday.

In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry also announced that 7 people had succumbed to the virus, bring the total number of fatalities to 839.


The new infections include; 176 Kenyans and 19 foreigners.

The Ministry also announced that there were 227 new recoveries. Out of the 227, 146 were from the home-based care program while 81 were released from various hospitals.

In terms of distribution of the new cases, Nairobi leads with 99 new cases. The other cases are distributed as follows; Busia 18, Uasin Gishu 17, Meru 14, Mombasa 10, Kiambu 10, Murang’a 8, Nakuru 7, Kajiado 3, Kisumu 2, Machakos 2, Bungoma 1, Wajir 1, Kitui 1, Nyandarua 1 and Nandi 1.

As at now, 1,084 persons are admitted in several hospitals across the country while 2,480 are on home-based care.

The Ministry has urged Kenyans to continue adhering to the set guidelines in a bid to prevent further spread of the disease.
