  • According to Mbadi, residents have started preparing and are even forming groups for empowerment by the DP during his visit.

National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, who also doubles up as Suba South Member of Parliament has welcomed Deputy President William Ruto to Homa Bay County, ahead of his visit planned for mid-July 2021.

Speaking during an interview on Tuesday night, Mbadi noted that a huge crowd will be waiting to receive the DP once he confirms the date he’ll be visiting.

He further noted that residents are currently organizing themselves in groups since reports indicate that the DP will be issuing cash for empowerment purposes as part of his hustler movement philosophy.

He, however, noted that the number of guys who attend the DP’s meeting should not be interpreted to mean Ruto enjoys that amount of support in the region since the number of attendants in political rallies is not a measure for the votes one will get in that particular area.

“Let Ruto come to Homa Bay, I hear he is coming, he will find a mammoth crowd waiting for him. Whether that will translate to votes, your guess is as good as mine. People are saying he is bringing money for groups, in fact people are putting their names down even in my constituency to go and attend his rally,” Mbadi said.

The DP is set to visit the Lu Nyanza region’ Kisumu, Migori and Homa Bay Siaya counties starting mid-July to undertake empowerment projects among the women and youth.
