President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) to flag off the World rally Championships Safari Rally. This is the first time the Safari Rally is returning to the WRC circuit in 19 years since it was unceremoniously in 2001.

President Uhuru President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday flagged off the World rally Championships Safari Rally at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), Nairobi county.  

This is the first time the Safari Rally is returning to the WRC circuit in 19 years since it was unceremoniously removed in 2002.

This is the culmination of a 2013 campaign pledge made by President Uhuru Kenyatta where he promised that the Safari Rally would return to the country.

Set to run for four days from Thursday 24th June 2021 to Sunday 27th, the Safari Rally will feature 58 drivers competing over 320.19 kilometres

On Wednesday, the rally shakedown took place with Sebastian Ogier emerging as the fastest driver.

From KICC, the rally vehicles will proceed to the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani where spectators will be granted the once in a lifetime opportunity to view the vehicles from close range.
