According to the DCI, Peter Omweno Momanyi aged 24 was arrested dressed as a woman alongside his accomplice John Muchiri Kimani aged 25, after they defied police orders to stop.

In a series of tweets, the DCI divulged that one of its officers had noticed there was something amiss with the appearance of the suspect and ordered them to stop, but they defied the orders and decided to run way.

Fortunately, the officers managed to catch up with the suspects and arrest them.

“The two were arrested a few metres past the Mbagathi bridge, and crude weapons recovered from them. Momanyi was found in possession of a knife and a chain, carefully concealed on his waist. Detectives based at Langata have established that the two are among suspects who waylay fitness enthusiasts who jog along Langata and Mbagathi roads, early in the morning and late in the evening,” the DCI said.

The suspects have been placed in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court today.

Meanwhile, the DCI has urged those who’ve lost their valuables to the two suspects to report to Langata Police Station for further Police action.

Over the past few years, the DCI has increased patrol within major roads and other areas across the country leading to higher rates of arrest and crime prevention.
