US-based Kenyan basketball player Keegan Oyugi has been found dead in Minnesota; two weeks after he was reported missing.

According to the police, Oyugi’s vehicle was involved in an accident that led to the death of its male occupant who’s believed to be a basketball player.

The police have commenced investigation of the crash site as a medical investigation of the body is set to be undertaken.

“As we await formal identification from the medical examiner’s office, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Oyugi family,” the police statement read in part.

Media reports indicate that Oyugi had contacted his family and informed them that he was heading back to his home in St. Bonifacius after leaving the Prior Lake/Savage area, but unfortunately, he did not make it.

Oyugi was a graduate of Wichita Southeast High School. He played basketball at Neosho County Community College in Kansas, Texas until 2017 when he moved to Minnesota.

In Minnesota, he enrolled at Crown College and played for the college’s basketball team.

Reports indicate that the former Kenya Ports Authority basketballer had plans of moving back to Kenya later this year to play the sport professionally.
