This was revealed in a memo released by the ODM party on Thursday 30th June 2021.

Claiming to be Kenya's fastest-growing party, ODM stressed the need for member recruitment so as to retain its place ahead of other parties.

The party is now adopting a new strategy in the race to secure more members. The statement reveals that the move was a result of public pressure saying it had received petitions for the party to consider waiving the Ksh 100 ordinary membership fee.

Odinga has directed ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna to facilitate the waiver of the Ksh 100 membership fee for the next three months starting July 1st.

"We urge our supporters to use this three-month period to enlist as members of the party to be eligible to participate in the party's grassroots elections and nominations exercise," the statement by Mr. Sifuna added.
