Uhuru, Raila Receive Final BBI Report in Kisii

President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga have officially received the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) final report.

The report was handed to President Kenyatta and Odinga at Kisii State lodge.

The initiative has been a key subject of debate over the past year with various political leaders weighing in on its pros and cons.

Leaders allied to President Kenyatta and Odinga believe it is good for the country while those allied to Deputy President William Ruto believe that there are other important things Kenyans need.

BBI Proposals

Amid this debate, a new report by Citizen TV has revealed what Kenyans should expect in the final BBI report.

According to Citizen TV, the final BBI report proposes for the expansion of the executive by creating the office of Prime Minister with two Deputies and the introduction of the Office of The Leader of the opposition.

The report allegedly proposes for the creation of a Judiciary Ombudsman who will sit in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and will prosecute disciplinary cases.

In terms of representation and gender equity, the BBI final report allegedly proposes that the Senate implements representation to one man and one woman for each county. Meaning, a county will have two senators; one male and one female.

On matters devolution, the report allegedly proposes for a 20% in revenue sharing. This means counties will get 35% from the current 15% if the said report is adopted by Parliament.
