Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi was arrested on Tuesday morning at his offices after the body's CEO Mercy Wambua filed an assault complaint on Monday.

Prior to his arrest on Tuesday, the LSK president tweeted on Monday evening stating 'Theft is theft! It is no less if committed by a woman.'

Havi alleged that Mercy was shielding two former LSK presidents who had siphoned millions from the organization.

"Theft is theft! It is no less if committed by a woman. Mercy Wambua is shielding her principals, two immediate former Presidents of LSK from liability for plunder of hundreds of millions. Falsely shouting through paid journalists that ‘Nelson Havi assaulted me’ won’t help," Havi tweeted on Monday evening.

Mr. Havi was arrested and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road for questioning.

Assault claims by Mercy Wambua

Wambua in the police report, OB number 34/12/7/202, said the LSK President injured her right arm and finger during a brawl that erupted during a meeting that turned heated after Havi asked Wambua to leave the meeting.

The alleged assault occurred at their Gatanga Road-based LSK offices on Monday.
