The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has suspended vote tallying in Kiambaa after chaos emerged at the tallying centre in Karuri Secondary School.

A confrontation emerged after after Jubilee's Kariri Njama contested results released so far, with one station remaining.

According to the provisional results, UDA's Njuguna Wanjiku was leading with 21,606 while Njama Kariri had 21,151 after 153 polling stations out of 154 had been tallied.

Kariri and his supporters protested the results and demanded a recount of votes from Muchatha and Kawaida polling stations.

While he was protesting, Wanjiku his allies and supporters were celebrating and claim victory even though the tallying was yet to be completed.

On social media, leaders allied to UDA have already declared Wanjiku as the MP elect.

“Congratulations to you my friend John Njuguna Wanjiku of UDA on your election as the newest MP of Kiambaa Constituecy. Despite all the evil schemes and misuse of government resources and time to subvert the will of the people, the Lord God protected your victory. To God be the Glory.Amen!” Murkomen tweeted.
