Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has dismissed claims that she was arrested and spent Sunday night at Kileleshwa Police station.

In a tweet on Sunday night, Omanga noted that she was okay and enjoying her sleep, adding that any other reports should be treated as propaganda.

“Watu wangu mimi niko sawa ka usingizi kananibamba tu...izo zingine ni story,” she tweeted.

Reports of Senator Omanga’s alleged arrest emerged on Sunday night, with some netizens claiming she was arrested for operating a wines and spirit joint past curfew hours.

Following the reports, some netizens claimed that allies of Deputy President William Ruto were being targeted by the state. This is after Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua was taken in DCI detectives on Friday July 23, 2021.

While Gachagua's lawyer has come out to claim that no reason was given for his arrest, the UDA allied lawmaker has fallen afoul of the law due to his hefty bank accounts.

The Assets Recovery Authority has been on his trail over a Sh12.5 billion that was allegedly moved through three of his accounts in a microfinance bank.

The authority alleged that the sum had been moved through the accounts in a 7 year period in what was suspected to be a case of money laundering.
