  • Raila had been sent to collect money from his office by Jaramogi.

Royal Media Services (RMS) Chairman S. K. Macharia has disclosed how he first met former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking in Murang’a during a meeting with musicians, Macharia said they met when his late father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga sent Raila to collect money from his office.

The first time I met Raila is when his late father Jaramogi wanted some money, he called me we agreed. He sent Raila to my office na niliona kijana akaniambia nimetumwa na babangu, nikamuuliza baba yako ni nani? Akasema ni Oginga Odinga nikampatia pesa akaenda nazo. And it became a routine all the way through the second liberation,” said SK Macharia.

He went on to narrate that he was studying abroad when the government of Kenya had a program to have Kenyan students studying abroad come home and help build the country, and Jaramogi was in-charge of the program when they first met and he convinced Macharia to return to Kenya.

Upon his return, he became the officer-in-charge of the land transfer program and oversaw the transfer of land from the whites to Africans.

There’s a history between me and the Oginga family and all the years that I have known them, I could not differentiate them from our first President Jomo Kenyatta in terms of commitment for this country. That’s what we have in Raila, even in Oburu,” narrated Macharia.
