Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has described Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as a liar and a reckless politician who drags his name and CS Fred Matiang'i into every speech he makes.

PS Kibicho was responding to accusations made by the legislator on Tuesday where he claimed the plan to stop DP William Ruto from travelling outside the country had been hatched at Kibicho's home.

In an interview on a local television station on Wednesday night, PS Kibicho opened up on wide-ranging issues including the 2022 General Election.

"He has problems because people of Nyeri say he embezzled funds. Let him not drag Kibicho and Matiang'i in it. He cannot be mentioning Kibico and Matiang'i every time he is pushed to a corner in law. He is utterly and he needs to grow up, "PS Kibicho.

PS Kibicho was referring to the ongoing Ksh 7.4 billion graft case facing Hon Gachagua and 9 others.

He went ahead to claim that Hon Gachagua was facing challenges acclimatising to the freedoms Kenyans have gained courtesy of the 2010 constitution.

"Gachagua is an old administrator in this ministry who used rungus at that time because the constitutional order was different. He thinks the recklessness that he was doing in Molo, Kiambaa as D.O. continues. That stopped," PS Kibicho said dissociating himself from accusations of harassing DP Ruto allies.

The PS mentioned that he would not take legal action against Gachagua.

Kibicho noted that despite the challenges he faces on his job, he has explained to his family the nature of his work.

"The most difficult thing Is to be accused of planning the murder of a person and you have to go home and tell your children that you're not a murderer," he said asking politicians to be more empathetic of the position they put him in as a family man.

He was however cagey on his relationship with Deputy President William Ruto describing him as his boss.  He described their relationship as cordial.
