There was drama on Monday at the home of Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici after auctioneers descended on her property over a debt she allegedly owed an airline company.

Flex Air Charter, has reportedly been seeking to recover Sh5 million reportedly owed to it by Ngirici for services they offered her during the last General Election.

According to the auctioneers, efforts to recover the money amicably have been futile, thus the move to raid and take some of her properties.

“We have already executed the orders and recovered all the households. There was arbitration but the MP refused to corporate,” an official from the auction company told a local daily.

Speaking after the raid, Ngirici noted that the issue had been solved.

She told a local media outlet that she decided to pay the auctioneers the said amount as they had allegedly taken away all her household items including a Sh2 million TV set.

“As far as I am concerned, I don’t owe them any money which they are claiming to have accrued since 2017. They claim the debt is for parking, fueling and servicing of a helicopter that I used in my 2017 campaigns,” she said.

“The auctioneers descended on my residence and took away all the households including a Sh2 million television set. Because I wanted to save my items, I decided to deposit the cash with the court as I move to court for an appeal,” she disclosed.

According to her, the raid is politically motivated and meant to frustrate and intimidate her due to the close relationship she has with Deputy President William Ruto.

“The whole thing is political; these were my enemies at play. The statement I made over the weekend has really touched them,” she said.
