New details have emerged indicating that two additional police officers have been arrested in the ongoing probe on the alleged murder of two Kianjokoma brothers; Emmanuel Mutura and Benson Njiru.

By press time, details of the two additional officers were yet to be released, with reports on the Nation indicating that they are set to be charged alongside six other officers who were arrested earlier.

At the moment, the total tally of officers arrested for the alleged murder of the two brother stands at eight.

Last week, Corporal Consolata Njeri, Corporal Benson Mbuthia, Constable Lilian Cherono, Constable Martin Wanyama, Constable Nicholas Sang, and Constable James Mwaniki were arraigned in court over the alleged murders.

At the court, the DPP requested for more time to detain the suspects while finalizing investigations on the case.

The six were arrested after the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) concluded investigations and forwarded a file to the DPP.

IPOA recommended murder charges against the six police officers, arguing that they were involved in the alleged murdered of the two brothers.

"That the officers and their commanders, who have since been interrogated and their statements recorded, be available round the clock for further assistance to IPOA investigators when called upon," IPOA’s statement read in part.

Meanwhile, the DPP also directed Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to suspend Embu North OCPD Emily Ngaruya and former Manyatta OCS Abdullahi Yaya over the alleged murders.

The two brothers were found dead a day after they had been arrested by the police. An autopsy conducted at the Embu Level 5 Hospital indicated that the two succumbed to head and rib injuries inflicted by a blunt object.
