The Government has withdrawn General Service Unit (GSU) officers guarding Deputy President William Ruto's Karen residence and replaced them with Administration Police (AP) officers.

In videos and photos circulating online, a contingent of GSU officers is seen leaving the Karen residence.

One of the GSU officers is heard saying, “We have received communication to be on standby to leave anytime."

Reports indicate that the changes to DP Ruto's security detail are part of the routine adjustments by the government.

A section of Ruto allies led by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi had claimed that the Government had withdrawn the DP's security.

The legislator alleged that the Government had ordered the withdrawal of all security officers manning Sugoi, Elgon View home, Karen Residence and all other premises linked to DP Ruto.

Millicent Omanga took to Twitter making similar allegations that DP Ruto's security team had been withdrawn.
