ODM Nominated Member of Parliament Wilson Sossion has announced plans to contest for the Bomet Senatorial seat during the 2022 General Elections.

The former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary-general yesterday, September 6, 2021, hosted elders from Motigo Sub-County in his home where he laid out his political aspirations to them.

He was asked by the elders to drum up support for Deputy President William Ruto and help popularise the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

"They say charity begins at home, today in my residence, the elders of Motigo Sub location in Bomet Central have decided to endorse my senate aspirations in 2022.

"The elders have advised me to stick on the prize and avoid backing any politician but to support the Deputy President William Ruto in his 2022 presidential bid as well as popularizing the newly formed party UDA," Sossion posted on Facebook.

Should he choose to hid to the advice of the elders, Sossion will have to part ways with the party that nominated him to parliament.

The move would likely cause unrest within ODM ranks, as the party may be forced to take disciplinary action should the MP champion the agenda of another party.

Earlier this year, Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura was expelled and subsequently removed from Senate by Jubilee Party for breaching the party's rules.

While eyeing the Bomet Senate seat, Sossion will likely go up against incumbent and an ally of DP Ruto in Senator Christopher Lang'at.
