Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested ten suspects involved in a fuel siphoning syndicate in Nairobi's Lungalunga area.

The suspects will be charged at the Makadara Law Courts.

According to DCI, 25,800 litres of diesel and 1,300 litres of petrol were seized from the raid.

Also recovered in a godown where the fuel was stored were four lorries and a pick up, five generators, 108 drums and jeri cans among other things.

The vehicles were taken to Lungalunga Police station.

"In the godown located along Rangwe road, four lorries and a pick up, siphoning materials, five generators, 108 drums and several 20L Jeri cans were also confiscated," said DCI.

"The motor vehicles have been detained at Lungalunga Police Station and all exhibits secured, as the prisoners face appropriate charges at Makadara Law Courts," added DCI.

The sleuths said arrest of the suspects followed complaints from motorists operating in the area that the indivisuals were selling adulterated fuel.

"The seizure and subsequent arrest of the suspects followed numerous complaints from motorists operating within Makadara sub-county regarding counterfeiting and distribution of adulterated fuel," said DCI.
