A Siaya man has been detained by the police after he reportedly beat his wife to death.

According to a statement by the DCI, Kevin Onyango was infuriated after he found his wife missing at home, only to get her drunk an illicit brew den in Jera Village, Ugenya.

After finding her wife drunk at the Chang’aa den, the angry Onyango attacked her mercilessly inflicting serious injuries on her.

“An infuriated Onyango descended on her with kicks and blows further immobilizing his 42-year-old wife Emmaculate Mayavi, who could barely stand on her feet,” DCI’s statement read in part.

Following the beating, the lady was unable to walk forcing Onyango to put her on a wheelbarrow and take her home.

Unfortunately, after getting home, she developed complications and succumbed to the injuries.

“He then put her on a wheelbarrow and pushed her home, where she is reported to have developed complications and passed away during the night,” DCI added.

Onyango is expected to be arraigned in court today to answer to murder charges.

Meanwhile, cases of domestic violence in the country have been on the rise over the past few weeks.

Early this month, a Kiambu man stormed the house of his ex-girlfriend and attacked her new lover leading to his death.

The man was reportedly angered by his ex-girlfriend’s decision to bring another man to her house, yet they have a kid together.

He was arrested and arraigned in court over murder related charges.
