Ngilu skipped the swearing-in ceremony of the new Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.

Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilyu has congratulated Julius Malombe after skipping his swearing-in ceremony on Thursday.

Malombe was sworn into office as the new Kitui Governor at the Ithookwe showground. Ngilu skipped the ceremony altogether.

However, in a message via Twitter, Ngilu congratulated the new Governor and wished him the best.

"Congratulations Governor Julius Malombe on your inauguration as Governor of our great County of Kitui. I was unable to be physically present for this occasion but I am with you in thought and spirit. I wish you the very best as you take over the reigns. Godspeed," she said.

During the ceremony, Governor Malombe pledged to work together with everyone in a consultative approach.

“Nonetheless we have no choice but to join hands and tackle the issues head-on. There is no room for retreat surrender or quitting. In this regard I request you indulge and join me in prioritization and focus on key developmental aspects in the next 100 days,” he stated.

In 2017, Malombe failed to clinch his seat and was ousted by Charity Ngilu. In this year's polls, she withdrew from the race.
