Radio Africa Announces Oliver Mathenge's Replacement

Radio Africa Group has picked seasoned journalist Francis Mureithi to replace Oliver Mathenge who resigned to join Nation Media Group (NMG). 

Mr. Mathenge was the Digital Editor at Radio Africa Group, a position that will now be assumed by Mureithi. 

According to an internal memo shared with Radio Africa staff on Monday, October 4, Mr. Mureithi will oversee growth plans across all Radio Africa digital assets.  

"Apart from increasing our digital numbers, Mureithi will look to create new products, especially audio-visual content, in order to double our digital revenue in the next one year as we move towards a paywall.

"Mureithi is a seasoned journalist with over 15 years of experience in the media landscape. He has over the years worked in various spheres of journalism, including Court and Parliament, and, for the past five years, has been responsible for leading the newsroom as News Editor," part of the memo read.

Mr. Mureithi has a bachelor's degree in Languages & Literary Studies (Media and Communication option) from Moi University.

He attained a master’s degree in International Conflict Management from the University of Nairobi. Currently, Mureithi is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Digital Journalism at the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media & Communications.

Mr. Mathenge will assume his new role at the Nation Media Group in December. 

He played crucial roles in building the digital departments at Radio Africa as well as the Monetization of the platforms.
