Kenya's first Attorney General, Sir Charles Njonjo has broken his silence following reports that he had died.

Mr Njonjo in a statement said that the rumours about his passing on had been exaggerated by whoever started it.

"Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated," he said.

He went on to state that he was at home enjoying his Utamaduni Day weekend.

"I am well and enjoying my weekend at home as we celebrate Utamaduni Day," said the statement.

Charles Njonjo is 101 years old.
