ODM Leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, gave insight on how his cabinet would look like should he be elected president.

The former premier was addressing youths at the University of Nairobi when he revealed that he would allocate at least four slots in cabinet to persons aged 35 and under.

This, the ODM leader, maintained would involve youth in the direct running of the country.

"In the Cabinet, at least any four cabinets, I can say it will be more than four," he stated.

The former premier, further stated that he would appoint a youth to serve as the Foreign Affairs Minister, arguing that the youth comprise a majority of Kenyans living and working abroad.

Odinga also assured the youth that, in his government, young people will be appointed as ambassadors and high commissioners to foreign states. This he says would improve the reputation of the country.

The ODM leader insisted that all his appointments will factor in the two-thirds gender rule as required by the law.

Odinga told the youth that he has previously worked with young people and their coordination with his government will be smooth.

He revealed that during his term as Prime Minister he had a round table with the youth in which he listened to and addressed their issues.

"Jane should have told you here that when I was Prime Minister, I had a round table with the business community, and I also had a round table with the youth," Odinga stated.

The round table meetings were held on a quarterly basis and youth raised their concerns when they met the former PM.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto, ascended to power, while making huge promises to the youth.

However, the current constitution of cabinet has no individual aged 35 and below.
