Stephen Muigai began his 231 Km Mashujaa walk from Nakuru to Kirinyaga County to promote peace in the country ahead of the August 9, 2022, General Elections.

The 67-year-old man began his journey on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, destined for Kirinyaga to attend the Mashujaa Day celebrations set to held in the county on Wednesday, October 20.

According to reports, this will be Muigai's fourth Mashujaa walk and he has remained optimistic that he will be allowed into the stadium.

He has previously walked to attend the national celebrations held in Nairobi, Kisii, and Kakamega counties.

He urged Kenyans to refrain from divisive politics, while calling upon politicians to preach peace as they traverse the country in the hunt for votes.

“We should love one another for our nation to prosper,” he said, while calling upon well-wishers to support his peace drive.

His walk is expected to take seven days.

Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has been camped in Kirinyaga County to ensure preparations for the National celebrations are set.

While giving an update on October 12, the PS stated that With the preparations in Kirinyaga are 90 per cent complete.

He revealed that preparations have entered the final phase with Wang'uru stadium 95 percent complete and beautification and infrastructural renovation in Kerugoya mini state lodge 98 per cent complete.

The stadium is expected to be handed over to the state for final preparations on Friday, October 15.
