ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday brought Eldoret Town to a standstill.

Mr Odinga’s visit to Eldoret is a part of his Azimio la Umoja push that seeks to unite Kenyans from all walks of life, ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The former Prime Minister’s meeting started with a meeting with ODM delegates from the county of Uasin Gishu and Nandi before he went to address the city residents.

During the meeting, the ODM leader was crowned a Nandi elder and given the greenlight to seek the presidency.

This is the first of a series of planned visits by Mr. Odinga to the region perceived to be Deputy President William Ruto's stronghold.

“Unity in diversity is our strength as a nation. If we unite, then we can realize our objectives," Odinga told the gathering at Eldoret town.
