President Uhuru Kenyatta has lifted the dusk to dawn curfew imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19. 

The Head of State made the announcement while speaking on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Wang'uru stadium in Kirinyaga County. 

"I hereby order that the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew that has been in effect from 2020 be vacated with immediate effect," President Kenyatta announced. 

The nationwide curfew from 10 pm-4 am has been in effect since March 2020 which was meant to curb the spread of coronavirus. 


President Kenyatta on Monday, October 18, 2021, hinted at lifting the nationwide curfew. 

“We will look at it, I’m working, and very soon, you will hear it, I do not want to speak too early but very soon,” he said. 

To accelerate the economic growth in the country, President Kenyatta said, "Government will roll out the third financial stimulus program on November 1, 2021, to accelerate the pace of our economic growth and sustain the gains we've already made."
