In a statement, Kenya Railways explained that the trained had broken down due to technical malfunctions.

Kenya Railways assured passengers that it had dispatched technicians to the site of the incident to restore the train.

“Our technicians are attending to it, and we will resume the trip shortly. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused,” Kenya Railways said.

The state corporation also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the stalling on the train bound to the city.

Today's incident happens at the back of a series of similar occurrences where trains have stalled mid-journey this year.

On the morning of Wednesday, September 29, a Nairobi-bound train stalled near the Kaloleni area.

Passengers en route to Nairobi were forced to wait for more than 30 minutes as the crew resolved the issue.

Similarly, Kenya Railways then, also stated that the train had stalled due to mechanical issues.

Since the start of 2021, the corporation has seen a number of its train stall mid-journey.
