  • The two announced their separation on August 15, 2021, both saying that they remained good friends, but with the latest developments, this has not been the case.

Lillian Ng’ang’a, the estranged wife to Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua has for the first time opened up on why she broke up with the county boss.

Speaking to Daily Nation, Ms Ng’ang’a said they always had issues in their relationship which they resolved but last year, the issues could not be resolved because she called out Governor Mutua.

She went on to say that Mutua was a control freak who always wanted things done his way, which she had done for the years they have been together, and when she asked to do things her own way, hell broke loose.

“The second issue was being a control freak. This I guess is because he has been in government and used to controlling people. I have always done things his way.”

“I told him I needed to do a few things independently, but he was not comfortable. It led to a lot of fighting,” Ng’ang’a said.

She added that things escalated when she said she wanted to get a job and practice what she had studied, which Mutua felt would be embarrassing to him.

She went ahead and got a job as a project manager which was busy and she sometimes brought work home and would be in virtual meetings which the Machakos governor did not like.

“When I told him I was going to get a job last year and actually be employed, it made him very angry. He said I was going to embarrass him by working because it will look like he is not supporting me.”

“He felt like he was losing his grip on me and that brought serious fights between us. I have always done things for us as a couple, for him, and never for me,” she said.

This revelation comes a day after she publicly claimed that her life is in danger, months after her separation with Governor Alfred Mutua.

While addressing the media on Thursday alongside her lawyer Philip Murgor, Lillian accused Governor Mutua of frustrating and threatening her and her close allies.

She accused the governor of taking her car and illegally transferring her shares in the Ndash Enterprises LTD (the hotel company) to her sister Ann Mbandi Mutua.

"On October 7th 2021, I filed a case in the High Court at Milimani for a restraining order because I believe my life, and those around me were in danger. Mr Mutua is fighting the Restraining Order by rubbishing my claims, and wants the case transferred to Machakos where he believes I will be too scared to step, as he can hire goons to bully and harass me, when I attend court," she opined.

According to Lillian, Dr Mutua was angered by their separation and threatened to revenge by causing her to her and her friends.

"I requested him for a mature and amicable separation and reminded him that, after all, we were not married. Mr. Mutua angrily termed me as his Enemy No 1, and threatened to "crush me to ash", as he takes away everything I have, and own. Indeed, this has already started as he has demanded that I refund any money he has ever given to me or made available for my use," she said.
