The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has accused Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala of giving wrong information regarding an alleged plot to assassinate him.

Appearing before a Senate committee on Wednesday, Kinoti said the claims made by Malala were malicious.

The DCI noted that after investigating Malala’s claims his office is satisfied that they are not true, adding that the senator should be charged with providing malicious information.

According to him, Malala’s claim has injured the reputation of the DCI and its officers.

“Special Services Unit is a unit in the DCI which is under the command of the director of operations. A search of the DCI personnel data bases could not find any of the alleged officers names submitted in the complaint letter. There is no officer identified as Chief Inspector Wanzala in the unit or in the entire DCI personnel database.

“Allegations by Malala are false and ill-intended...we urge this committee to order the author of these allegations to be charged. These allegations impacted on character assassination of members of the Special Service Unit…the author should apologise to the unit,” the DCI Boss stated.
